CT vs MX

The CT charges way slower than the MX, like way fewer miles per hour. Is it just the bigger battery and higher energy use? I’m getting around 25 miles per hour while the MX gives me about 35

Yes, it is because the CT's battery is bigger and it needs more energy to get those percentages up.
