Do you have to unhook when charging while towing

I’ve been thinking about the logistics of towing with the Cybertruck and had a quick question. If I’m towing something like a trailer or boat and need to charge, do I have to unhook whatever I’m towing to fit at the charging station? Or are there setups that make it easier to charge without disconnecting?

Would love to hear how others are planning to handle this or if there are solutions out there for EVs towing trailers.

Unfortunately, with most charging stations right now, you’ll likely have to unhook the trailer to fit properly. The typical Supercharger layout just doesn’t accommodate longer setups like trucks with trailers or boats. It’s not ideal, but it’s something to plan for.

A workaround some folks use is to look for pull-through chargers, like the ones at certain rest stops or dedicated EV-friendly areas. Pull-through chargers are set up similar to gas station pumps, so you can park with your trailer still hooked up. They’re still rare, but I’m hoping we’ll see more of these as EV towing becomes more common.

If you’re road-tripping with a trailer, plan ahead and check the charger layout on apps like PlugShare or ABRP to avoid surprises.
