I’ve noticed something with my charging setup and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. Both my Cybertruck and Model X consistently charge 2-4% beyond my set limit. I have the charging set point at 80%, but the vehicles often end up charging to 82-84%.

I’m curious if this is normal behavior, maybe tied to Tesla’s software, or if it’s something specific to my setup. I use home charging exclusively, and I’ve double-checked the settings, which seem fine.

Is it worth contacting Tesla, or is this just within an acceptable margin?

Have you checked whether your home charger has any settings that might override the limit? Some chargers have ‘optimization’ features that can slightly adjust the charge percentage for efficiency. I had to tweak my wall charger settings to make sure it wasn’t doing this. It’s also possible the car and charger aren’t perfectly synced, so maybe worth a quick settings review on both ends.

This behavior seems to be normal for Teslas, as the system sometimes allows for a slight overcharge to optimize battery health. It’s generally within an acceptable margin.

This happens when the temperature around the CT is high. You may see it go the other way when the temperature drops significantly.
